Terms of service

Version of 30 September 2026

How Substat may be used: what the free analysis is, its limits, what a report contains and how to file a complaint. The Polish version is binding.

§1. General provisions

  1. These Terms set out how the Substat service, available at substat.app (the “Service”), may be used.
  2. The Service is run by Stanisław Królikiewicz, trading as StanByte Stanisław Królikiewicz, ul. Neseberska 4/103, 02-758 Warsaw, Poland, NIP 1231224958, REGON 527269263, e-mail hello[at]substat.app (the “Provider”).
  3. Terms used here:
    1. User: a person using the Service.
    2. Video: a public video on YouTube.
    3. Request: a request to analyse a Video, sent through the form in the Service.
    4. Report: the result of analysing the comments under a Video, available at a unique link.
  4. The Service is at an early stage of development. All services described in these Terms are free of charge.

§2. Services

The Provider offers the following services free of charge:

  1. Free comment analysis. From a link to a Video, the Service fetches the newest comments, up to 2,000, and prepares a Report: the topics, questions, needs and opinions of viewers, with counts and example comments.
  2. Access to the Report. The Report is available at a unique link that the Service sends to the e-mail address given in the Request.
  3. Sample reports. They can be browsed without sending a Request.
  4. Contact form and feedback. Users can write to the Provider, rate sections of a Report and flag a mislabelled comment.
  5. News about new services. The Provider tells Users about self-serve analyses only if they ticked that option in the form.

The Provider offers no paid services at present. Introducing them requires a change to these Terms.

§3. Technical requirements

  1. Using the Service requires a device with internet access and an up-to-date browser, such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge, with JavaScript enabled.
  2. A free-analysis link (§4(4)) works only with cookies enabled in the browser.
  3. Sending a Request requires an active e-mail address.
  4. Using the internet carries common risks, such as malware or interception of data in transit.

§4. Conclusion of the agreement and the Request

  1. The agreement to prepare a free analysis is concluded when a Request is sent through the form at substat.app/en/analyze. By sending a Request, the User confirms having read and accepted these Terms.
  2. A Request contains a link to a Video and an e-mail address. After sending it, the User receives a confirmation e-mail with a link to the Report.
  3. Subject to paragraph 4, the Provider reviews Requests by hand. It may decline an analysis, in particular when the Video is not public, has no comments, or the Request breaches these Terms. The decision appears at the link to the Report.
  4. The Provider may give selected people a free-analysis link. A Request sent from the same browser after opening such a link is carried out without review by hand. A link is good for one analysis, and the Provider may revoke it until it is used.
  5. The Provider aims to prepare the Report on the same business day. This is a goal, not a deadline commitment.
  6. The Provider may limit the number of Requests, including per network, per e-mail address and in total across all Users. A Request over a limit may not be accepted.
  7. Requesting the same Video again from the same e-mail address does not start a new analysis. The Service returns the link to the existing Report instead.
  8. The agreement is concluded for an indefinite period and lasts until it is terminated under §9.

§5. The Report

  1. A Report shows public comments by other people under the Video, with like counts, replies and dates, without author names. The rights to the comments belong to their authors. The Service shows them only as material for the analysis.
  2. Classifications of comments, such as sentiment, intent, emotions and topics, and the summaries are produced automatically by machine-learning and language models. They may contain errors. Every figure in a Report leads to the comments it was counted from, so the User can check it.
  3. A Report is not advice or a recommendation. Decisions based on it are the User’s own responsibility.
  4. A Report is available to anyone who has its link. The Service does not publish the links and does not expose them to search engines. The User may pass the link on at their own responsibility.
  5. Users may use a Report for their own purposes, including professional ones such as content planning. Reselling Reports and downloading them automatically in bulk is not allowed.
  6. The Service refreshes or deletes data obtained from YouTube within 30 days, as the YouTube API Services terms require. The content of a Report may therefore change, and a Report may stop being available.
  7. The author of a comment shown in a Report, including one who is not a User, may ask for the comment to be removed from the Report as described in the Privacy Policy.

§6. YouTube API Services

  1. The Service uses YouTube API Services to read the public comments and metadata of Videos.
  2. By using the Service, the User agrees to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
  3. How Google handles data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
  4. The Service does not ask for access to the User’s Google or YouTube account and does not use Google sign-in.
  5. The Service is not affiliated with, endorsed or approved by YouTube or Google.

§7. Acceptable use

  1. Users may not provide unlawful content to the Service, including in the contact form and in feedback on a Report.
  2. In a Request, the User gives an e-mail address they are entitled to use.
  3. It is not allowed to:
    1. get around the limits in §4, in particular by sending Requests automatically;
    2. disrupt the Service or try to gain unauthorised access to the Service or to other people’s Reports;
    3. use Reports to harass comment authors, identify them or build profiles of them;
    4. use the Service in breach of the law or of the YouTube Terms of Service.
  4. If these rules are broken, the Provider may decline a Request or delete the Request and the Report.

§8. Liability

  1. The Service is at an early stage of development. The Provider may take it down for maintenance, change its features and close it under §9.
  2. The Provider does not guarantee that the Service will be continuously available or that Reports will be kept.
  3. The Provider is not responsible for the content of third-party comments shown in a Report.
  4. Towards Users who are entrepreneurs, other than those covered by Article 385⁵ of the Polish Civil Code, the Provider is not liable for any damage connected with using the Service, unless it caused the damage intentionally.

§9. Termination and deletion of data

  1. The User may terminate the agreement at any time by asking for the Request, the Report and their data to be deleted, through the contact form or by e-mail to hello[at]substat.app. The Provider deletes them within 24 hours of the request.
  2. A User who is a consumer may withdraw from the agreement within 14 days of concluding it, without giving a reason, in the same way. As the service is free, withdrawal means deleting the Request and the Report.
  3. The Provider may terminate the agreement for good reason, in particular when the User breaches these Terms or when the Provider closes the Service.
  4. The agreement also ends when the Provider deletes the Report under §5(6).

§10. Complaints

  1. Complaints can be sent through the contact form at substat.app or by e-mail to hello[at]substat.app.
  2. A complaint should describe the problem, give the link to the Report if it concerns a specific Report, and the e-mail address for the reply.
  3. The Provider answers a complaint within 14 days of receiving it.
  4. A single mislabelled comment can also be flagged directly in the Report.

§11. Personal data

  1. The Provider is the controller of Users’ personal data.
  2. How data is processed, including the e-mail address and the hash of the IP address, is described in the Privacy policy at substat.app/en/privacy.

§12. Changes and final provisions

  1. The Provider may change these Terms. A Request is governed by the version in force when it was sent.
  2. Polish law applies to matters not covered here. This choice of law does not deprive consumers of the protection given by the law of their country of habitual residence.
  3. Disputes with entrepreneurs are settled by the court competent for the Provider’s registered address. Disputes with consumers are settled by the court competent under general rules. Consumers may also seek help from a municipal or district consumer ombudsman.
  4. These Terms apply from the day they are made available in the Service.
